CONFESSIONS OF A SURGEON is a rollicking read that I enjoyed immensely. There are tons of 5-star reviews of this book on Amazon with lots of details of the book elsewhere. My perspective is that of a recently retired anesthesiologist. Surgeons like Dr. Ruggieri were the ones I most enjoyed being in the OR with. Dr. Ruggieri has a BIG personality, and that is actually what you want in the person who is going to cut you open and try to fix whatever is wrong. The OR is not a place for the meek - give me someone with self-confidence. At the same time, I would like for that person to have a sense of humor, be a fierce advocate for their patients, and be able to be totally honest about what is going on inside them - their fears, their doubts, their limitations. Dr. Ruggieri has all of that. CONFESSIONS OF A SURGEON is a true insider's view of the world of the Operating Room. The scenes he describes all ring true to one who worked there for 36 years. If you ever wanted to know what really goes on in the OR and in the minds of successful surgeons, you will enjoy the book as much as I did!
